Surveying and Engineering

At Maules there is a variety of experience and expertise that can be offered to private clients as well as the core business associated with the Insurance related instructions.

We predominantly specialise in foundation problems but can advise on a wide range of building issues. We do not generally advertise our services to the public but we are able to undertake private survey work.

Outside of our normal client base, our charges are based upon an hourly rate but depending on the nature and scope of an instruction, we are happy to discuss other suitable fee arrangements.

We undertake a number of inspections for corporate clients who need engineers or surveyors reports on a variety of issues that include structural stability/integrity, general condition surveys, feasibility studies for alterations. The scope of work is tailored to the specific client needs. If you have a project in mind please feel free to contact us.

Not all insurance work requires the input of surveyors and engineers but some circumstances dictate that technical assistance is required. Whether you are a placing broker or an insurer, Maules are able to demonstrate a good understanding of policy issues, Although we are known as specialists in subsidence work we are also familiar with the issues arising out of flood, fire, impact, earthquake and storm from the technical perspective. We also have experience in audit work and resolving difficult and contentious dispute cases.

Private Clients

Householders sometimes require the services of an engineer or surveyor. Typically instructions relate to small structural alterations, house condition surveys, party wall issues and occasionally specific defects such as dampness, roof conversions, bowing walls and sagging floors. Depending on the type of work required, fixed fee arrangements can be put in place but for the majority of commissions, we charge an hourly rate.

We are able to accept instructions from Solicitors who require qualified expert opinions in relation to building damage. We are familiar with preparing expert reports for litigation, predominantly in connection with subsidence recoveries but also in professional negligence claims.
